For those who don’t know yet, we just found out Kerrie is pregnant. As of today she is about 7 weeks along and feeling very sick. Mostly in the mornings but sometimes all day. In this picture the baby is 0.7 centimeters long, or about 0.3 inches long.

Old World Christmas Ornaments
In our house we have a Christmas tradition. As a couple we selected an ornament that most reflects the happenings of the past year, and add it to our collection. As we decorate the Christmas tree, the ornaments we selected in year’s past bring refresh our memories. Before opening our store we never really paid attention, but we recently we realized we typically selected ornaments from Old World Christmas.

Our friend Kirby Pople creates the most amazing hand-made pens. He starts with a solid square blank of wood, acrylic, Lucite or stone, and turns the blank on a lath until the round pen is revealed. His stone pens are my favorite – he has stones like white turquoise to blue lapis. They have a solid feel and unique look all their own. But the Lucite pens are pretty amazing as well. Lucite is semi-transparent and the pens have amazing depth.

Dickens of a Christmas!
It’s hard to believe our second Dickens of a Christmas is nearly upon McKinney Square. The event, going on its 28th year, is this November 28, 29 & 30th. Don’t miss our old fashioned, Victorian atmosphere with horse drawn carriages, strolling carolers, visits with Santa Claus, the Christmas tree lighting and activities for all ages. Seasonal music, food and children’s activities provided by local not-for-profit organizations will take center stage during the event.

The Penny Laine keepsake school year books came to our attention last year from the barrage of phone calls inquiring about if we had them. With the fresh new school year of course interest in them has been very strong and we have brought them to our website. We had an opportunity to bring university car ornaments to the store and hopped right on! I know ornaments for the biggest schools are available but we also picked up ornaments for our smaller schools.
