  • Dream Maker nap mat review

Dream Maker nap mat with 5 year old boy Dream Maker nap mat with 5 year old boy

We have many years experience selling cute nap mats with innovative features, and now we are introducing our own Dream Maker nap mat which we think has a very compelling feature set for the money!

Other manufactures have been selling quality nap mats for many years, and it is hard to improve on their good designs.  By the end of the review, I hope you will agree that we have.

With nap mats, there are lots of important features.  Padding thickness, nap mat size, blanket size and blanket warmth appropriate for your child and room temperature, pillow size, materials used, and ease of rolling up.

It is hard to get Everything in a nap mat to be ideal for ever single person.  Compared to other nap mats in it's class, we improved:

    • Velcro closure
    • Wider blanket
    • Huge pillow
    • All cotton sleep envelope

Our Dream Maker nap mats work for child up to about age 7.  The picture at right shows a five year old boy, 44" tall, resting happily on a the nap mat.

    Wider blanket Wider blanket
    Velcro closure! Velcro closure!
    Bigger pillows! Bigger pillows!

    Bigger pillow
We offer the biggest removable pillow design in all-in-one nap mats.  It runs the full width of the nap mat, allowing your child to move is his or her sleep without waking up.

The extra blanket width is significant The extra Dream Maker blanket width is significant

    Velcro closure
Little fingers can't do knots on tie-based nap mats.  My big fingers find the ties difficult.  The Dream Maker uses big, 2" x 2" Velcro squares to easily close up and open.

    Cotton envelope
Your child now sleeps in a cotton envelope - cotton breathes and wicks moisture, and allows children to nap longer than synthetic fibers.  Other nap mats in this class are double thick minky dot, which is pretty warm for many kids.  A child who is a bit to warm when sleeping tends to sweat, and be restless.

    Wider blanket
The blanket is wider than other nap mats in this class.  Double-thick minky dot blankets are generally 30" wide.  This is fine for kids up to about age 5, but nap mats in this class are long enough for about age 7.  For kids aged 5-7, 30" wide blankets are often not going to be wide enough to close up and snuggle with.  The 35" Dream Maker nap mat blanket width won't be an issue for your child.

Dream Maker nap mats have a fantastic pillow! Dream Maker nap mats have a fantastic pillow!

  • Nap mat laws and regulations for each state

States often regulate what nap mats can be used at day care.  Many parents send their toddlers to school and may not think of school as a day care, but legally it usually is considered to be one.  We have a state-by-state breakdown of day care nap mat rules.

Parents can always buy and use any nap mat outside of day care, these laws only affect what nap mats can be used inside a day care facility.

Alabama  There is no minimum nap mat size, thickness, or construction.  The law mentions children sleeping on cots, but but simply does not talk about nap mats.  We do not know what Alabama's position on using nap mats in day care is.
Alaska Alaska does not have any nap mat rules or regulations.  Any nap mat that complies with federal consumer laws should be legal for day care.
Arizona Arizona does not have any nap mat rules or regulations.  Any nap mat that complies with federal consumer laws should be legal for day care.
Arkansas Arkansas requires nap mats be at least two inches thick and washable.  Washable implies a Kindermat style nap mat, not that it can be machine washed.  Nap mat size is not dictated.
California California requires nap mats be at least 0.75 inches thick and covered with vinyl or other cleanable surface.  There must be a way to distinguish the floor side from the sleeping side.
Colorado Colorado requires nap mats be at least 2 inches thick.  Any 2 inch or greater nap mat that complies with federal consumer laws should be legal for day care.
Connecticut Connecticut does not allow nap mats in day care - children must sleep on a cot.
Delaware Delaware requires nap mats be "not water absorbent" and be cleanable.  That means our Kindermat/Daydreamer style mats are fine in Delaware.  Delaware does not regulate nap mat thickness.
Florida Florida requires nap mats be at least 1 inch thick and covered with vinyl or other cleanable surface like our Kindermat/Daydreamer nap mats.
Georgia Georgia requires nap mats be at least 2 inch thick and covered with vinyl or other cleanable surface like our Kindermat/Daydreamer nap mats.

Iowa Iowa does not allow nap mats to be used for children under two years of age.  For children above two years old, Iowa does not have any nap mat rules or regulations.  At two years old and above, any nap mat that complies with federal consumer laws should be legal for day care.
Kansas Kansas requires nap mats be at least 0.5 inches thick and washable.  That means the nap mat surface must be washable, so covered with vinyl or other cleanable surface like our Kindermat/Daydreamer nap mats.  Kansas is also one of the few states that has a nap mat size requirement.  Nap mats must be long enough that the child's head and feet rest on the pad.
Kentucky Kentucky requires nap mats be at least 2 inch thick and covered with vinyl or other cleanable surface like our Kindermat/Daydreamer nap mats.

  • Stephen Joseph GoGo kids backpack review

Stephen Joseph GoGo kids backpack review.  If your little boy or girl is outgrowing a smaller toddler backpack, a GoGo backpack may be a good fit.  We carry this larger backpack, and smaller quilted backpacks appropriate for smaller kids.

The GoGo backpacks are quite a bit bigger, and made from vinyl.  It is a good material choice for kids - it wipes clean and is very rugged!

How much bigger?  It holds a Stephen Joseph kids lunch tote, a full change of clothing for our five year old boy, a sweatshirt, and a pair of shoes!  If you need to carry even more, take out the lunch tote, as the lunch tote is pretty big.

The GoGo backpack will hold a standard folder, but does not quite fit a 3-ring binder.  If you need an even bigger backpack, the Mint medium sized kids backpack or the Jaq Jaq Bird backpacks are good choices.

The backpack has wide carry straps so is comfortable for children.

  • Mint medium kids backpack review

Mint medium kids backpack review.  If your little boy or girl is graduating from their first backpack, Mint's medium sized backpack may be a good fit.  This review goes into more depth than the product pages allow for.

Mint has two sizes of backpacks, a toddler size, and this larger size.  Our pictures show just how big this backpack is.

Our five year old son still uses the toddler sized backpack, as it fits all the things he currently needs for school, shown in the toddler sized backpack review.  But the toddler size won't fit a three ring binder, very many books and school supplies on top of a snack square and a change of clothing.

The backpack straps are wide, adjustable, and very well padded.  This is a comfortable backpack for your child to wear.

The picture below shows the belongs of my five year old. The medium sized backpack will hold a regular sized Mint lunch tote, a full change of clothes, a sweatshirt, a pair of shoes, a 3-ring binder, and Super Hero Teddy.

This backpack will serve most children well up until ages eight to ten.

  • Mint toddler backpack review

    mint-toddler-backpack-backside

Mint toddler backpack review.  Are you looking for a first backpack for your child?  A Mint toddler backpack could be a great fit.  Here we can go into a lot more depth than the product pages allow for.

Mint has two sizes of backpacks, a toddler size and a larger size for bigger kids.  Mint has many matching children's products as well - duffle bags, nap mat, and lunch totes to name a few.

This review shows just how big the toddler sized backpack is, by showing just exactly how much of my son's belongings will fit inside!

These backpacks have wide, padded straps so are comfortable for your child to wear.  Since at this age backpacks generally are not loaded down with heavy books, strap construction is not generally a huge concern.

Our five year old son could use any backpack we have, or he would like.  He still use his Mint toddler backpack, and a Stephen Joseph quilted toddler backpack.  The picture above shows why the toddler sized backpack is just fine for him.

This backpack holds a full snack square, and a complete change of clothing for him.  At his age, that is all he needs for school.

  • Giant OMK nap mat cleaning guide

The Ozark Mountain Kids giant nap mats should not be washed in a top loading machine with an agitator.  It is possible for the agitator to tear the fabric.  The minimum washing machine size for these nap mats is 4.2 cubit feet.  Because these nap mats are so big, they will be damaged if your washing machine or dryer can catch or pull or have parts the blanket can wrap around.

We do not replace the nap mats for washing or drying mishaps.  Please don't wash or dry these mats in a machine that does not comfortably fit the mat, or in a machine that can catch or tear the fabric in any way.

They should be washed in cold water and the gentle cycle, and dried on low heat.
